We seek a scholar with demonstrated distinction and strong future potential in research and a strong commitment to undergraduate education. The ideal candidate should have broad regional interests in Southeast Asia and be able to link the study of Southeast Asian culture with the theory, methodologies, and knowledge of a disciplinary field. We also prefer a dynamic program builder, who will help coordinate UCLA's growing programs in South and Southeast Asian Studies and contribute to interdisciplinary dialogue with colleagues throughout the university. Ph.D. is expected upon appointment. Appointment to begin July 1, 1997.
